A grand celebration was held in the city of Varanasi in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh (UP) to open the Rudraksh International Cooperation and Convention Centre (RICCC). Representatives from both countries (India and Japan) decided in 2015 to build a high-tech convention centre called Rudraksh in the religious and cultural city of Varanasi. The centre was built and opened in May 2021, giving the friendship between India and Japan even more positive energy.
It was built with help from Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).Under the Japanese ODA plan, JICA gave a grant of 3,042 million Japanese yen (about Rs 200 crore) to help build the convention centre. ShriNarendraModi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, H.E. Mr. Suzuki Satoshi, Ambassador of Japan to India, Smt. Anandiben Patel, Hon’ble Governor of Uttar Pradesh,Shri Yogi Adityanath, Hon’ble Chief Minister of UP, and other dignitaries from India and Japan presided over the opening ceremony.
Features of Rudraksh Convention Centre
The Rudraksh Convention Centre has lot of incredible features. The main hall of this meeting centre can hold up to 1200 people. Plans have also been made to split the hall into two parts based on how many people will be there. The convention hall is completely air-conditioned and has high-tech “Building Management Systems” that make it easy to keep track of everything.The gallery is decorated with murals that show Varanasi’s art, culture, and music.
Besides this, four green rooms and a VIP room have been built here. ‘The whole site has been made to be easy for people with disabilities to use, with ramps, wheelchairs, and everything else that was needed. The Rudraksh Convention Centre building also has a garden and landscaping that look like they were made in Japan. So that the parking lot is easy to get to, there are also places for 120 cars to park in the basement.
For proper surveillance, CCTV cameras have also been put in this convention hall. Along with energy from the grid, solar power has also been set up as a way to get power.The officials say that it will be a building that is good for the environment and meets level 3 of the Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA).

The Rudraksh International Convention Centre, which cost INR 186 Cr. to build, is shaped like a Shivalinga and is a unique Convention Centre that combines Japanese and Indian design.The two-story convention center is on 2.87 hectares of land.
On the outside of the Rudraksh Convention Centre, which is made of metal, 108 symbolic Rudraksh have been put up. This convention centre has the most up-to-date tools.It has a main hall with a full moving tower, room for 1,200 people, a gallery, and meeting rooms.
